Home to England’s highest mountain and largest lakes, the Lake District truly is a fairytale land. The national park is an area of outstanding natural beauty, with dramatically fell mountains, rolling countryside hills and of course the wild, expansive lakes that give the park its name.

Aside from the unrivalled nature and outdoor activities, Lake District is also home to some iconic market towns and historical attractions.

Being just a three-hour train journey from London and an hour’s drive from Manchester, it’s easy and convenient to visit and because it’s so big, it never feels overrun with tourists either. If you’re looking for a destination that feels magical, this is it.

While there are many accommodation options in the Lake District, none rival the elegance and luxury of a spa hotel. Since the lake district is all about the outdoors, what better way to sooth those aching limbs after a day of hiking or sailing than by taking a dip in your own private hot tub?

If you feel like treating yourself, make sure to check out these incredible hotels with private hot tubs in the Lake District. Not sure where to start? No matter, here are the best ones…

Best Hotels with Private Hot Tubs in the Lake District

    Relax at the Lake District

Before I dive into the best options, I just need to set your expectations first. If you’re set on enjoying the benefits of a private hot tub in your room, be prepared to pay a pretty penny for it. Typically speaking, any hotel with private hot tubs will be a luxury hotel, usually with four or more stars.

On a similar note, even some of the most luxurious hotels only have a few rooms with private hot tubs. If you’ve already started your research, you’ll know that this isn’t super common, and most of the rooms with private jacuzzis are suites or deluxe rooms.

This also means you can expect a high level of service to come with the price you will be paying. Luxury hotels will usually have attentive staff available night and day to make sure all your needs are taken care of.

The quality of the actual accommodation shouldn’t disappoint either. I’m talking spacious rooms with high-quality linens, views from every room, and huge bathrooms stocked with complimentary brand-name toiletries.

One of my favorite things about the hotels with jacuzzis in the Lake District is the views that come with them. Because there is so much beauty and nature in the area, many of these hotels are located in prime positions overlooking the best places to visit in the Lake District, such as the lakes and rolling countryside.

What to Look for in Hotels with Private Hot Tubs in the Lake District

    Village Lake District

There are a bunch of different types of hotels, from large chain groups like the BW to more intimate boutique hotels. There are pros and cons to each; you know what you’re getting with a chain hotel, but boutique hotels can be more personalised and charming.

You also need to consider where to stay in the Lake District. The larger hotels are usually located in and around the heart of the Lake District, near the largest lake in England, Lake Windermere. From these hotels, guests can easily take a stroll or a quick drive into the center of town to explore local shops, boutiques, restaurants, and pubs in their own time.

I’d recommend staying in a central location if you’re traveling with family or are just visiting for a quick weekend getaway. However, if you’re planning a week-long trip or are staying at one of the Lake Districts’ hot tub hotels for your honeymoon, a hotel in a more remote location could suit you better.

Since the Lake District is expansive and remote, you’re going to need a car to enjoy this epic landscape. Make sure your hotel comes with parking so you can enjoy your epic Lake District road trip without a fuss.

One thing to look out for when searching for the perfect room is whether the hot tub is indoor or outdoor. Typically, a hotel with a large bathroom and indoor tub refers to these as ‘spa baths’ or ‘sunken tubs,’ while outdoor jacuzzis are known as hot tubs and jacuzzis.

Oh, and one more thing. Many of the hotels here are set in authentic 17th and 18th-century Victorian and Georgian houses. That being said, jacuzzis weren’t exactly a thing two hundred years ago. So, just about all the hotels with hot tubs have been renovated and refurbished with contemporary fittings. It’s the best of both worlds – authentic history and modern luxury!
