The pretty market town of Hebden Bridge is set amongst the stunning Calder Valley corridor that connects Leeds to Manchester and divides Yorkshire from Lancashire.

Following decades of post-industrial decline, this unique and quirky town was actually ear-marked for the bull-dozers back in the 1960’s until it was “discovered” by the hippies and new age travellers who came to the town en masse and essentially revitalised it.

Today, Hebden Bridge sits as one of the counterculture epicentres of the Northwest and is fast establishing itself as one of Britain’s best kept secrets.

I first discovered the little town when I was 18, have been visiting it ever since and even lived there for a short while. As such I consider myself the blogging world’s leading Hebden Bridge expert and well placed to showcase the Best Airbnbs in Hebden Bridge for you all.

So pay attention!

The Top 10 Airbnbs in Hebden Bridge

The impact of Airbnb on the town of Hebden Bridge is divisive as long-term residents are forced out by rising property prices. Politics aside though, the fact is that there are now an array of stunning Airbnbs in Hebden Bridge waiting to receive you for your next weekend getaway or as part of your adventure travelling around the UK.

In this post, we have chosen just a handful of them with a few more Airbnbs in Todmorden at the end.

Machpelah, Entire House | Overall Best Value Airbnb in Hebden Bridge

Machpelah, Entire House in Hebden Bridge

Located at the “entrance” to Hebden Bridge, Machpelah (named after the burial place of Abraham in Hebron) is a stunning, old stone weavers cottage turned into a fine and convenient Hebden Bridge Airbnb.

The cottage has been lovingly restored and boasts a wood-burning fire, a classic stone floor, comfy couches and a well-appointed kitchen. It is within stumbling distance from the Vocation Brewery Tap Room and located on the bus route to Halifax and Todmorden.

The reason I have picked this as the best Airbnb in Hebden Bridge is because it’s a truly classic period property, it has excellent transport links (the train station is 7 minutes walk) all the while being reasonably priced.

Gorgeous Apartment in Centre of Todmorden | Overall Best Value Airbnb in Todmorden

Gorgeous Apartment in Centre or Todmorden in Hebden Bridge

Right, so Todmorden is a former mill town located about 4.5 miles along the road from Hebden Bridge (5 minutes on a train or 8 in a car) and while it’s maybe not quite as pretty or trendy it is definitely a lot cooler, better serviced and a hella lot more affordable.

This Airbnb is situated within vomiting distance of the legendary Golden Lion venue and a short dash from the train station. It’s well-priced, freshly refurbished and situated slap bang above The Board Game Cafe. There are more elegant and extravagant Airbnbs in Todmorden (I will show you some later…) but this one wins for sheer practicality coupled with a bang for brass.

Geoff’s House | Best Budget Airbnb in Hebden Bridge

Geoffs House in Hebden Bridge

If you are on a budget then check out Geoff’s House. For some reason, Geoff’s gaff can be rented on a weekend for just $80 a night making it by far the best bargain Airbnb in Hebden Bridge. It’s a traditional, cosy Hebden Bridge “under dwelling” (the likes of which you won’t find anywhere else) so whilst it’s not the biggest space, it’s perfect for short breaks and weekend getaways.

It is well-located and in good condition following a full refurb a few years back. The stone fireplace is absolutely lovely, and the back garden offers some cracking views over the town.

The ‘Nook’ & Hot Tub | Over-the-Top Luxury Airbnb in Hebden Bridge

The Nook & Hot Tub in Hebden Bridge

For those of you in need of a spot of opulence during your trip to Hebden Bridge, check out this stunning little annexe with a hot tub. Attached to the rather striking “Thorn House” (a mere stone’s throw from the centre of Hebden Bridge) the Nook is a newly renovated separate living space that nevertheless retains a number of the original stone features.

As well as being a tastefully appointed space, guests also have full and exclusive access to the garden and 6 person hot tub.

Croft Mill Apartment | Perfect Hebden Bridge Airbnb for Solo Travelers

Croft Mill Apartment in Hebden Bridge

For those of you seeking a central, functional, self-contained flat in the centre of Hebden Bridge we bring you Croft Mill. Impeccable and snazzy, this mill conversion is quite literally bang in the centre of Hebden Bridge 1 minute away from the picture house and 1 minute away from a fistful of pubs and restaurants.

While it might test the solo travellers budget (everything is cheaper when it’s split in two right) it’s perfect for those lone guns who want to make some friends. The interior is chic and tasteful with leather sofas, flatscreen TV screens, and a selection of board games (no Settlers of Catan though!).

More Epic Airbnbs in Hebden Bridge

Here are a few more of my favourite Airbnbs in Hebden Bridge in case you need more inspiration!

Old Ironmongers

Old Ironmongers in Hebden Bridge

What do you iron, cheese, fear, war, fish and rumours all have in common…?

Anyway, this delightful Hebden Bridge Airbnb is slap bang in the middle of the town and is so close to the Vocation taproom that you could probably request a pint of Life and Death from the bathroom!

It is compact but tastefully appointed with a comfy double bed (perfect for couples looking to explore one another if they have the energy left after exploring The Pennies – one of the most beautiful places in the UK) and a proper modern functional kitchen.

(…they’re all things that you can monger).

The Wendy House

The Wendy House in Hebden Bridge

The hamlet of Heptonstall perches on a hilltop overlooking Hebden Bridge and can be reached by either a 20-minute uphill trek or a 5-minute car ride. The tiny village looks and feels like it was frozen in time with its cobbled streets, cottages and stunning, ruined church.

Heptonstall was the stronghold of the infamous Cragg Vale Coiners, and their ringleader David Hartley (once the most wanted man in the entire British Empire) is buried in the churchyard along with the American Poet Sylvia Plath.

Anyway, there are not all that many Airbnbs in Heptonstall so be sure to book ahead to bag this charming and functional bungalow property. The gorgeous Hardcastle Crags is also a short distance so it’s perfect for anybody fancying a few days hiking and exploring the rugged Pennine landscape.

Old Chapel Schoolhouse

Old Chapel Schoolhouse in Hebden Bridge

This lovingly restored former schoolhouse is a holiday cottage that just packs in the character and charm. Each of the bedrooms has retained original, period features such as the stone fireplaces, and the cottage offers some stunning views over the valley.

Despite being a short walk from Todmorden town centre, the cottage is truly peaceful making it ideal for a little getaway. Furthermore, the cottage is very reasonably priced and I was able to book it for $100 a night – that’s $25 per guest if you travel as quadruple. If you’re looking for true hidden gems in the UK, then stay here.

The River Suite With Sauna

The River Suite With Sauna in Hebden Bridge

This truly gorgeous and magical riverside studio apartment is located at the mouth of the wonderful Hardcastle Crags, a 15-minute walk from Hebden Bridge. It is connected to the “main house” but has private access, en-suite facilities and a self-contained kitchenette meaning you essentially have total privacy.

The studio also has access to the stunning veranda which overlooks the forest. There is even a hot tub and sauna. The studio is also tastefully decorated in boho style. This Hebden Bridge Airbnb could almost be a self-contained wellness centre if only it had an ice bath or flotation tank!

Canalside House in Hebden Bridge

Canalside House in Hebden Bridge

This beautifully renovated 18th-century Wash House is uniquely located on the Rochdale Canal, just a few minutes walk from the historic centre of Hebden Bridge and 5 minutes from the train station.
Accommodating up to four guests in two double bedrooms, the Wash House seamlessly combines modern amenities with the charm of a historic cottage, all in a breathtaking setting.

The Wash House is located next to the owner’s residence but has its own separate entrance and private garden. This self-contained accommodation offers a delightful canal-side garden for guests to enjoy
