Canada Travel FAQs
What's the best way to see Canada's wildlife?
You don't necessarily need to head into the wilderness to see wildlife in Canada. Bears, moose, whales and elk can all be spotted in different parts of the country, while national parks offer some of the best opportunities. Always keep your distance and follow local wildlife advice.
When is the best time to visit Canada?
It depends on what you want to do. Summer is ideal for hiking, road trips and exploring the national parks, while winter is all about skiing, snowboarding and snowy landscapes. Autumn is also a great time to visit if you want to see Canada's famous fall colours.
How long do you need to backpack Canada?
Canada is absolutely massive, so don't try to see it all in one trip. Two to three weeks is enough to explore one region, while a month or more gives you time for a proper road trip or to combine several destinations.
Do you need to tip in Canada?
Yes. Tipping is expected in restaurants, bars and for many services in Canada. Around 15–20% is common for good service, although the amount can vary depending on the situation. Check your bill first, as some restaurants automatically add a service charge for larger groups.
