As I said, Simify started life as SimsDirect in Australia, shipping physical SIM cards to travellers before departure. As the eSIM market matured, they pivoted and rebranded to focus on digital eSIMs. In case you’ve been living under a rock, they’re data plans you can install instantly on your phone without ever touching a physical SIM card.
They now offer only eSIMs (delivered digitally within minutes). Most travellers these days prefer an eSIM option anyway (the iPhone 17air is going eSIM only, so it seems to be the way of the future).
Simify is aimed squarely at international travellers, digital nomads, and backpackers who need reliable, fuss-free connectivity as soon as they land and without the plastic.

How Simify eSIMs Work
Installing and using a Simify eSIM is really simple and very quick:
- Buy it online — choose your destination and data package on Simify.com.
- Receive instantly — a QR code and installation instructions arrive in your email and Simify account.
- Install before you fly — scan the code to add the eSIM profile to your phone.
- Activate on arrival — switch it on when you land, and it connects to Simify’s local partner network.
Because the plan only activates once you actually connect to the local network, you can safely install it before you leave. Knowing you can get online the very second you land. Newer phone models also support multiple eSIMs simultaneously, allowing you to keep your home number active for calls and texts while using Simify for data.
Simify eSIM Plans and Pricing
Simify sells two main types of plans:
- Country-specific eSIMs — tailored for popular destinations like Japan, the USA, the UK, Thailand, and more.
- Regional eSIMs — cover entire regions (e.g. Europe, Asia, the Middle East) on a single plan.
- Global eSIM – Simify also offer a Global Sim that offers coverage in 127 countries.
Most plans are data-based (1 GB to 50 GB) and last between 7 and 90 days. They also offer unlimited data packs for a fixed number of days (e.g. unlimited for 10 or 30 days).
However, please be aware that unlimited packs sometimes have fair use limits after which speeds are throttled – that said, if you reach out to Simify they will refresh this which is not always the case with Sim providers.

It seems that there’s currently no option to top up an active eSIM with Simify. Instead, you simply buy a new plan when it runs out.
Payments are accepted in multiple currencies, and VAT/GST is usually included in the advertised price, meaning the price you see is the price you pay. Great for sticking to your backpacking budget on your travels and even budgeting in advance.
Finally, Simify is also Afterpay supported (Clearpay for UK audience) – this allows users from the Australia, US, Canada and New Zealand to pay in 4, splitting payments which helps stretch out the payments.
Coverage and Network Performance
Simify offers packages in 190 destinations+ split over 150 countries. They don’t operate any actual telecom infrastructure themselves, so they achieve this by partnering with tier-one local carriers in each region. For example, AT&T/T-Mobile in the USA, Orange/Vodafone in Europe, and SoftBank in Japan.
Most plans use 4G/LTE networks, with 5G available on some country plans where the local partner supports it.
Network speeds are generally very fast in cities and well-populated areas. In more remote regions, performance depends heavily on the local partner network — note that this is true for all eSIMs, not just Simify.
