Vang Vieng is a relatively small town that is nestled in central Laos, and surprisingly, has a lot going on given its size.

It’s renowned for its array of adventurous activities as well as its breathtaking natural beauty, both of which are responsible for luring in hoards of travellers every year.

The town is surrounded by the lifeblood of the area, the Nam Song River, as well as lush rice paddies and dramatic limestone karsts.

It’s an outdoor enthusiast’s dream with plenty of opportunities for hiking, biking, kayaking, and caving.

While the town was historically known for its party scene, that has subsided somewhat over recent years. It has shifted towards more sustainable travel and eco-tourism, a far cleaner approach if you will.

But that’s not why I’m here, no no, I’m here to tell you about the best hotels in Vang Vieng for 2025. So I guess you could say I’m kind of a big deal. Let’s get cracking!

Selection Criteria

Okay but let’s just pump the brakes here quickly and not get too ahead of ourselves. Before I show you some of the best hotels that money can rent you, it’s important to lay out a few considerations for where you stay during your trip to Laos. These are just things to think about before booking a spot, and while they may seem obvious, they are hella important.

  • Location: Let’s face it, the location of your accommodation is one of the most important considerations prior to booking. There’s no arguing about that! No one wants to be on the arse end of the town away from all the attractions. But then again, where you stay really depends on the vibe you’re after. Do you want the hustle and bustle of city life? Or do you want a more mellow vibe a bit further out of the town?
  • Customer reviews and ratings: Reviews and ratings have become one of the most accurate ways to determine how good or bad a place is. I mean, what better way to get information about a hotel than from real reviews and ratings left by guests who have stayed there before? Booking.com has a great, trustworthy review system that you can rely on and the hotels on this list all boast great ratings and reviews.
  • Amenities and services: The amenities offered and services provided by a hotel can be the difference between a good trip and a great trip. I’ve ensured that all of the hotels in Vang Vieng have some pretty sweet offerings so that your trip will be more than comfortable (though not as good as those in Luang Prabang in all fairness). In fact, it will be unforgettable. Bold statement, I know but if the shoe fits.
  • Price range: Last but certainly not least, is price. Sigh, the elephant in the room always. Let’s face it, it’s probably one of the first things we all look at. Our individual budgets will dictate the type of hotel we book, so the first thing you need to establish is how much you have set aside for accommodation. But there are plenty of options here to suit all budget types.

Right, I think that’s all for now. Keep navigating your way downward to see some of my top hotel picks in Vang Vieng for 2025.

    Top Hotels in Vang Vieng

Vang Vieng has some pretty epic outdoor activities to get involved in and some pretty sweet sights to explore. So, whether you’re an avid adventurer or simply want to kick back, relax, and take in the natural beauty, there’s something for everyone. These are some of the best hotels in Vang Vieng and I’m confident in saying there’s something here for everyone.

    Tmark Resort Vang Vieng

    tmark resort vang vieng

I think it’s fair to say that we’re starting things off with a bang here at Tmark Resort. With the dramatic limestone mountains as a backdrop and the majestic Nam Song River adjacent, guests will truly be able to experience the local Laotian way of life. From the traditional exterior architecture to the carefully thought-out rooms and villas, it’s the perfect combination of comfort, natural beauty, and excellent service.

But it doesn’t end there – you’ll be able to take full advantage of a great range of facilities for the duration of your stay. Think spa and wellness centre, a gym, and of course, the stunning outdoor pool waiting for you to cannonball into. There’s also a great restaurant on-site that serves, in addition to international cuisine, some pretty banging Laotian dishes. Overall, Tmark Resort is the perfect base to explore the local town and surrounds, but also serves as the ideal relaxation spot. It’s all about balance, right?

    S Vang Vieng Boutique Hotel

    s vang vieng boutique hotel

The first words that come to mind when I think of S Vang Vieng Boutique Hotel are charming and contemporary. Located in the heart of the town, the hotel provides a stylish atmosphere for travellers, with its well-appointed rooms and comfortable furnishings. You can also expect free Wi-Fi, AC, and private balconies to fully take advantage of the stunning views surrounding the hotel.

The other huge upside of the hotel is that it is conveniently located in the town and is close to most of the key attractions. This makes it the ideal base to explore the local caves, the Nam Song River, and epic viewpoints. With so much to offer budding outdoor and nature enthusiasts, it’s easy to see why it’s such a popular choice amongst visitors to Vang Vieng.

    Sisombat Plaza Hotel

    sisombat plaza hotel Vang Vieng

Off the bat, one of my favourite features of Sisombat Plaza Hotel is the epic outdoor pool area that’s very much a central feature. It’s the perfect spot to relax, unwind, and have a dip after a busy day of exploring. Heck, it’s also the ideal spot to sip on one of the many styles of beer Laos on offer. They’re surprisingly good and there’s a huge range.

Inside the hotel, you’ll find plenty of rooms with scenic views over the local limestone karsts, equipped with all the modern amenities you’ll need. You’ll also be greeted with friendly service and that classic Laotian hospitality upon arriving, which is something that I loved during my time in the country.

There’s an on-site restaurant that serves up a variety of local and international cuisine, but there are also plenty of options nearby. If you’re a foodie like me, you’ll want to hit the streets and find all the best local delicacies that Kip can buy.

    Khampaseuth Hotel

    khampaseuth hotel Vang Vieng

What sets Khampaseuth apart from some of the larger resorts in the area is its cosy, intimate atmosphere. As a result, you’ll get a more personal and homely feel, which is something that I absolutely love when I travel. It’s also the perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and affordability which is often regarded as the hold grail for travelers.

Overall, the hotel combines modern amenities with local charm and that for me is the ultimate. Often you find high-end hotel chains providing the same offerings as they do in every other country and fail to capture the local vibe and charm. You’ll also have convenient accessibility to local adventures and relaxation spots if you wish to venture out further than the pool area.

The staff are also super friendly and attentive, always there to help and provide guests with insight to local attractions. But they’ll even go one step further and help you with customized travel tips. Now, that’s what I call going above and beyond the call of duty!

    Confetti Garden Hotel

    confetti garden hotel Vang Vieng

Located in the heart of Vang Vieng, Confetti Garden Hotel treats customers to unparalleled views of the surrounding mountains and scenic landscapes. While it might seem unassuming from the outside, the interior, and more importantly, the rooms, are spacious, modern, and homely.

Circling back to the location for a moment, the hotel is within very short walking distance of the night market. These are some of my favourite attractions to explore when visiting a new place, especially in Southeast Asia. I find them alive and bustling, and I just love all the sights, sounds and smells that radiate from them.

A worthy mention is the breakfast served at Confetti Garden Hotel because, well, food is really important to me. And because it simply is delicious it’s thoroughly important to start the day off on a good note. A cuppa Laotian coffee and a good graze set you up for an epic day of exploring.

There’s also a spa and wellness centre and, not one, but two pools to take advantage of on those hot days. Rooms also come with breakfast included so you can fuel up ahead of a full day of exploring the local attractions and immersing yourself in the Laotian way of life.

    Sky Hotel

What sets Sky Hotel apart from all the other accommodations you ask? Well, for starters, it benefits from an elevated position which means the views are to die for from the terrace and those evening sundowners just got that much better. I mean, who doesn’t love a good ol’ rooftop terrace to have a drink and take in the surrounding scenery? Plus, it’s a great spot for us digital nomads to work from.

Whether you opt for a standard room or a more luxurious suite, each offers guests an environment in which they can fully unwind after an action-packed day of adventure.

Get Insured BEFORE Visiting Vang Vieng

I don’t travel anywhere without insurance, and neither should you. Unfortunately, things can go wrong when you least expect it. This is why good travel insurance is essential before you head on your trip to Vang Vieng.
