Ah Koh Phi Phi. A backpacker’s paradise known for its beaches, buckets and a damn good time.
Made famous by the film ‘The Beach,’ Phi Phi has exploded in popularity, making it one of Thailand’s most travelled to islands.
But with great popularity comes fierce competition for hostel beds—they vanish faster than you can say “full moon party.”
Phi Phi’s hostels are also super varied, and if you’re not careful you can fall into a party hostel where the walls shake until 5am or in a quiet hostel where the only party animal is the hostel cat.
What I’m trying to say is, finding the perfect hostel in Phi Phi is harder than other parts of Thailand. But fear not, that’s where I come in.
I’ve organised this list of the best hostels in Phi Phi by YOUR needs. Whether you are trying to party hard on Ton Sai beach, unwind in style, sleep cheap, or find a central base for your island hopping adventures, this list will sort you out.
So grab your backpack, grab a bucket (or two), and let’s dive into finding your perfect Phi Phi pad!

1. Dee Dee Sea Front – Best Overall Hostel in Koh Phi Phi
- Dorm (mixed): From $11
- Address: 211 Moo 7, Phi Phi Island, Ao Nang, Amphoe Muang, 81210 Phi Phi Don, Thailand
This hostel is a personal favourite of mine and is one I always return back to when heading to Phi Phi. With direct beach access, comfy dorm beds, and daily cleaning, you won’t feel like you’re bringing half the beach back into your room.
The amenities here are super modern and clean, which is actually a rarity compared to other hostels on the island. The dorm beds have those all-important curtains so you feel like you actually have a bit of privacy after a long day (or night) and the en-suite bathrooms are cleaned and stocked with all the essentials, a rare find in Thai hostels.
Why you’ll love this place:
- Clean and modern amenities
- Complimentary Tea, Coffee and Biscuits
- Central Location
It’s a five-minute walk from all the insane nightlife the island has to offer so you’ll never feel like you’re too far away from the party. The main reason why I love this hostel so much is because it’s one of the only hostels far enough from the noise of the party that offers a good night’s sleep. You don’t have far to stagger home from the beach bars and you can nurse your bucket-induced hangover in the morning in peace and quiet.
2. Blanco Beach Bar – Best Hostel in Koh Phi Phi for Solo Travellers
- Dorm (mixed): From $6
- Address: 276 Blanco Beach Bar, Moo 7 Ao Nang, Mueang Krabi, Krabi, 81210 Phi Phi Don, Thailand
Wanna spend your nights drinking and partying with a cool crew, and your days on island-hopping adventures and lazing on glorious beaches? Blanco Beach Bar might just be the best place to stay in Phi Phi for you! Blanco is famous for its beach parties that get pretty wild. Think fire shows, live DJs, sexy Jenga, and enough cheap cocktails to keep the good times rolling till the sun comes up.
Roll out of bed and onto the idyllic Ton Sai beach. Blanco Beach Bar is literally steps away from the sparkling turquoise waters of Loh Dalum Bay. Whether you’re a sunrise enthusiast or a late riser, you’re in the perfect spot to catch the best views.
Why you’ll love this place:
- BBQ Facilities
- Big Party Vibes
- Great Location
Blanco offers a range of accommodation options to suit every budget and style. Choose from mixed or female-only dorms with sturdy, comfy bunk beds. For those craving a bit more privacy, the private rooms are a solid pick. No matter what you choose, all rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, ensuring you stay cool and comfortable throughout your stay.
3. Rehab Hostel – Best Cheap Hostel in Koh Phi Phi
- Dorm (mixed): From $6
- Address: Moo 7 Koh Phi Phi, Ao Nang, Muang Krabi Ao Lo Dalam, 81000 Phi Phi Don, Thailand
Look, I get it—Phi Phi isn’t exactly the cheapest island for backpackers in Thailand. But when it comes to finding a gem in the Phi Phi hostel scene, Rehab Hostel shines bright and affordable.
What makes this hostel so great aside from the price is the blend of beach party and chill vibes. It’s one of the rare hostels that is close enough to the party so you’re staggering distance back yet far enough away that you’ll actually be able to sleep. It’s a delicate balance that makes Rehab a standout choice for those looking to experience the best of both worlds in Phi Phi.
Why you’ll love this place:
- Welcoming Vibes
- Super Affordable
- Tours and Excursions
What really sets this hostel apart is the family that runs it. They are SUPER friendly and welcoming and will recommend the perfect tour for you when you’re ready to get out and explore the surrounding areas. Plus, they have the best insider knowledge about things to see and do on the island. Pro tip: don’t forget to play a game of Connect Four with Nam before you leave.
We’ve tested countless backpacks over the years, but there’s one that has always been the best and remains the best buy for adventurers: the broke backpacker-approved Osprey Aether and Ariel series.

- Dorm (mixed): From $15
- Private Room: From $46
- Address: 225 Moo 7, Aonang, Muang, Krabi , 81000 Phi Phi Don, Thailand
When I think of a party in Phi Phi, the first thing that comes to mind is the legendary pool parties thrown at Ibiza Pool Party. Iconic enough to pay the hostel a visit in itself, these bad boys are thrown three times a week. These parties carry on until the early hours of the morning but if you want to carry on until the sun comes up, all of the best beach clubs in Phi Phi are literally on the doorstep.
Just a fair warning, I’m not responsible for what happens to you if you end up drunk enough to go in the pool itself because let’s just say that the water at the end of the night is… questionable.
Why you’ll love this place:
- The Legendary Pool Parties
- Outdoor Swimming Pool
- Great Location
The vibes at this hostel are wild in true Phi Phi fashion. In true Phi Phi spirit, you won’t be hard done by to find backpackers who have been on a 3+ day bender here. I love me a good beach party as much as the next traveller, but even I have to admit, surviving a full week here is a feat for the hardcore.
Party aside, the amenities that Ibiza House Pool Party have are pretty decent too. They offer several different dorm types, with beds ranging from four to ten, with some even having sea views. All rooms have air-conditioning with hot showers and lockers for your valuables. When you finally drag yourself out of bed and need something to quell the hangover, you can grab a bite at their Seaview restaurant or head over to the pool bar or beach bar for a little hair of the dog.
5. Dormsin – Best Hostel for Digital Nomads in Koh Phi Phi
- Dorm (mixed): From $8
- Address: 139/4 Soi Ban Thai, 81210 Phi Phi Don, Thailand
Dormsin is a CLASSIC Thai backpackers hostel. Warm and cosy, with a real sense of community. They pride themselves on having “the smartest, comfiest, most kitted out pods on the island.” I have to say, I agree. The comfy pod-style beds, all come with a light, power outlet, and locker, and the all-important curtains on beds for privacy that are so needed in an 18-bed mixed dorm.
The room is huge and it doesn’t feel like you’re living on top of each other like other hostels. Just bring a pair of good earplugs and you’ll be grand here!
Why you’ll love this place:
- Clean and Comfortable Pod-Style Dorms
- Free Wi-fi
- Variety of Communal Spaces
What sets this hostel apart is the variety of communal spaces that are scattered throughout the property, making it perfect for digital nomads looking to crack on with a couple of hours of work. There’s even a cosy seating area in the dorm rooms themselves if you want to stay in the recluse of the air-conditioning. And let’s be honest, I don’t blame ya.
You’ll also find a book exchange, free Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, luggage storage, board games, and a TV. It’s the friendly vibe and the welcoming hosts that really make this place so special, though; it’s a solid choice for those wanting to have a base on this stunning Thai island for a while.
Stash your cash safely with this money belt. It will keep your valuables safely concealed, no matter where you go.
It looks exactly like a normal belt except for a SECRET interior pocket perfectly designed to hide a wad of cash, a passport photocopy or anything else you may wish to hide. Never get caught with your pants down again! (Unless you want to…)

- Address: 18 Moo 7, T. Ao nang, A. Muang Koh Phi Phi, Krabi District, 81000 Phi Phi Don, Thailand
Listen up party animals! A pumping Phi Phi pad, Blanco Central Hostel is one of my faves when it comes to a wicked party hostel in Phi Phi. Hit up the bar, open every evening, for cheap beers and buckets and thumping live music to really get you in the mood.
This place, along with its sister hostel Blanco Beach, is known on the island for its legendary boat parties. They are the ultimate way to see the islands, boogie on a boat and have a bit too much fun… It’s probably the best thing you can do as a solo traveller. It’s, hands down, the easiest way to make friends backpacking Thailand!
Step outside and you’ll find many cool bars for even more fun, and the coolest beach bars are less than a five-minute walk away. Whether you’re hitting Ton Sai Beach, exploring local shops, or diving into the nightlife, everything is just a stone’s throw away. Hangover Hostel is one of the most popular hostels in Koh Phi Phi. A stay here may not come cheaply, but you can join lots of other happy travellers and enjoy a fab stay in a top location with great standards of comfort. You can only slum it for so long!
The sociable vibe reigns supreme at this top hostel in Phi Phi, and you’ll meet tons of new buds in the lively common areas. 9. Sweed Dee
- Dorm (mixed): From $11
- Address: 102 Moo 7 Koh Phi Phi, 81210 Phi Phi Don, Thailand
Sweed Dee is another one of those hostels that hits the balance right between being close to the party but far away enough to be able to nurse your hangover in peace. You’ll find everything you need here: cosy beds, spotless bathrooms, and a warm, welcoming vibe – all in a prime location.
The staff are amazing and helpful, which makes you feel so welcome as a solo traveller. The dorms are squeaky clean, with lockers that actually fit your stuff. It’s a bit off the main strip, so you get some peace and quiet, but it’s just a quick five-minute stroll to dive back into the madness.

The facilities are kept impeccably clean, with thorough daily cleanings—because who wants to come back from the beach to find their hostel feels like a mini sandpit?
11. Film House
- Dorm (mixed): From $11

Nestled just a stone’s throw from the buzzing Loh Dalum Beach, Film House is your cosy retreat on Phi Phi Island. It’s where you can soak in the island’s beauty and still catch up on some much-needed Z’s. Need a hot shower or to chill in a room with air-conditioning? Film House has your back.

12. Slumber Party Phi Phi
- Dorm (mixed): From $6
- Private Room: From $25
- Address: 256 Moo 7, Ao Nang, Mueang Krabi, Koh Phi Phi, Thailand
Slumber Party Phi Phi is a great backpacker’s base if you want to unwind and chill away from the partying crowds. Don’t get me wrong—it’s just a short walk to the action, but you can come back and rest well rather than trying to nod off with pumping music all around you.
One big draw is that it’s one of the only hostels on the island with a pool! The rooms are refreshingly cool and the beds are comfy. Chillax in the garden, on the terrace, in the pool… the world really is your oyster here. Recently renovated, Slumber Party has made a good name for itself in the Thailand hostel scene so you can’t go wrong by checking it out!

FAQ about Hostels in Koh Phi Phi
Here are some questions backpackers ask about hostels in Koh Phi Phi.
What to Pack for your Koh Phi Phi Hostel
Pants, socks, underwear, soap?! Take it from me, packing for a hostel stay is not always quite as straightforward as it seems. Working out what to bring and what to leave at home is an art I have perfected over many years.
Ear Plugs
Snoring dorm-mates can ruin your nights rest and seriously damage the hostel experience. This is why I always travel with a pack of decent ear plugs.
Hanging Laundry Bag
Trust us, this is an absolute game changer. Super compact, a hanging mesh laundry bag stops your dirty clothes from stinking, you don’t know how much you need one of these… so just get it, thank us later.
Sea To Summit Micro Towel
Hostel towels are scummy and take forever to dry. Microfibre towels dry quickly, are compact, lightweight, and can be used as a blanket or yoga mat if need be.
Monopoly Deal
Forget about Poker! Monopoly Deal is the single best travel card game that we have ever played. Works with 2-5 players and guarantees happy days.
Grayl Geopress Water Bottle
Always travel with a water bottle! They save you money and reduce your plastic footprint on our planet. The Grayl Geopress acts as a purifier AND temperature regulator. Boom!

If you’re ballin’ on a budget my top picks for you would be Rehab Hostel and Blanco Central Hostel.

The average price of hostels in Koh Phi Phi can range from $13 – $16+ per night. Of course, the private rooms are on the higher end of the scale than the dorm beds.
What is the best place to stay in Koh Phi Phi near the airport?
Krabi International Airport is quite far from Koh Phi Phi, so it is usually better to find the best place on the island. If you do need to hop on a flight after your trip, I recommend staying at @The Pier 519 as it’s close to the pier for your onward travel.
Final Thoughts on Koh Phi Phi’s Hostels
It’s no wonder backpackers flock to Phi Phi. This idyllic Thai island boasts stunning golden sand beaches, glittering turquoise waters, lush green jungles and charming villages. Toss in the buzzing nightlife, mouthwatering cuisine, and rich local culture, and you’ve hit the jackpot – Phi Phi is truly one of Thailand’s top destinations.
Thailand and its islands are a mecca for backpackers, and Phi Phi is no exception. Yet, with hostels flying off the shelves in Phi Phi, picking the perfect one can feel like a cloud over your dream island escape.

I just got back from the Phi Phi Islands. I don’t think they entirely got shut down – just Maya Bay. But I agree we need to take care of nature!
hi nice post. I visited Koh Phi Phi in 2016. Its sad to know that the island is shut down and that to due to pollution. I personally enjoyed my stay 2 years back but also noticed the commercialization. I hope the authorities will come up with environment friendly acts.
