I love Amsterdam for its unique feel compared to other European cities. On one hand I remember walking alongside the canals seeing the dim red lighting of women waiting for customers in the infamous red light district, as the smell of cannabis wafts from the local cafes (not the same as a cafe in other countries).
On the other, I loved getting stuck into Amsterdam’s cultural and historical side, enjoying the many museums it has to offer, whilst learning the solemn events that took place at Anne Frank’s House during the war.
Amsterdam, being one of Europe’s most popular travel destinations, has a HUGE hostel scene. Many tourists come for the culture, but several of you degenerates will be hitting up this city for sex, booze and weed, and you’re gonna want a party hostel to get your evenings started.
When you come here, you’re gonna discover beer gardens, pub crawls and bars in your hostel, plus walking tours if you wanna mix up that hedonism with a little more culture.
Here, I’m gonna explain why these hostels which I’ve stayed at are the best for partygoers in Amsterdam.

- Price: $
- Best for: Solo travellers and friend groups
- Highlights: The club nights and pub crawls
- Dorm (mixed): From $31
- Private Room: From $182
- Address: Kerkstraat 136-138, 1017 GR Amsterdam, Amsterdam
This super social party hostel in Amsterdam has a whole load of stuff going for it. In fact, the hostel rightly boasts of having the biggest personality in Amsterdam. And I agree. When I stayed here, the club nights popped OFF!
It’s the kind of place where it’s easy to get chatting to other travellers – whether that’s just chilling in the comfy common room or enjoying a cheap beer in the bar come happy hour. And for when you want to party the night away, the basement nightclub is open until 4 a.m!
Why you’ll love this hostel:
- Free breakfast: It’s already one of Amsterdam’s most budget-friendly party hostels, but free breakie makes it even better
- Boat tours: If you want a break from the bars and clubs, you can take a boat cruise during the day
- Live music: You can have a great night without even leaving the hostel, as they have musicians playing in the bar here
We’d say Hans Brinker Hostel Amsterdam is a great choice for solo travellers. It’s here you’ll meet like-minded people, not only drinking alongside you in the hostel but exploring Amsterdam’s nightlife scene, too. I stayed here when I came alone, so I know how easy it is to socialise and make new friends.
The beers are cheap, the staff are awesome, the atmosphere is great, the location is spot-on, and everything’s clean and comfy. And who could pass up a free breakfast?
2. The Bulldog – Best Hostel For Smokers

- Price: $$
- Best for: Party lovers from across the world
- Highlights: Daily boat tours
- Dorm (mixed): From $46
- Private Room: From $211
- Address: Oudezijds Voorburgwal 220, Amsterdam
The Bulldog is one of the most famous hostels to stay in Amsterdam – a place of legendary nights in (and out). The party vibes even seem to extend to its rooms, which kind of look like funky nightclubs themselves!
Having provided a place for party-lovers from around the world for the past 20 years, this hostel knows a thing or two about how to get the good times rolling! Not only has it got an ace location but the lounge bar is an ideal spot for enjoying a drink – or a smoke – all while meeting various international travellers.
Why you’ll love this hostel:
- Cannabis lounge: Doing drugs has consequences, but if you’re into that sort of thing…
- 24/7 reception: If you’re out partying until the sun starts to rise, there will be staff on hand to let you crawl back to your bed
- Meals available: Hit the beers too hard, and you’ll be pleased to know that you can purchase scran from here to let the hangover subside
On top of that, there’s an insane rooftop terrace with amazing city views. This isn’t the kind of place where you can expect stag and hen parties or big groups of male-only party animals, it’s more about cultivating a fun, party atmosphere that isn’t exclusive to dude-bros.
As these guys make clear, this hostel isn’t one for boisterous groups of travellers looking to get completely trashed. Instead, this is a party hostel run by locals who know how to have a good time that lasts well into the wee hours of the morning and isn’t cut short by passing out in a toilet at 10 pm.
It’s pricey, yes, but as they say, staying here is something of a right of passage for party-loving travellers in Amsterdam.
3. St Christopher’s at The Winston – Best For In-House Parties

- Price: $
- Best for: Young degenerates who love a tear up
- Highlights: The beer garden, daily pub crawls and DJ nights
- Dorm (mixed): From $30
- Address: Warmoesstraat 129, Amsterdam
If the last two weren’t rowdy enough for you, enter St Christopher’s at The Winston. Now, this place really is where it’s at for a noisy, boisterous party hostel in Amsterdam. It’s adult-only, so don’t worry, there are no families to judge you or your antics.
This multi-award-winning hostel has a lot going for it. Since it’s part of the St Christopher’s chain, expect a wild vibe, as you can at pretty much every one of their locations. That’s partly down to the presence of Belushi’s bar, which is a nightclub as the night wears on. There’s also a beer garden here, with a smoking area of course, where you can mix with an international crowd. If you were wondering about the name, it’s named after the infamous Winston Kingdom Club, which is right next door.
Why you’ll love this hostel:
- The beer garden: Nice place to sink a few bevs before the real party gets started
- Continental breakfast: For €7 a day there’s a breakfast available. We had eggs, ham, bread and more
- Beer pong: Wouldn’t be a party hostel without some classic drinking activities on offer
This hostel is super central – just a few minutes walk from Centraal Station and a stone’s throw from the Red Light District Dam Square is also within easy walking distance, Vondelpark is a 10-minute cycle away, and the charming Nine Streets district is also just 5 minutes away by bike. Its central location makes it the ideal place to stay if you’re only in Amsterdam for the weekend.
You pretty much know what you’re getting with any St Christopher’s hostel. That may put some people off, but being part of a chain doesn’t really make it any less of a party hostel. If you’re in Amsterdam to party, booking yourself a bed here won’t be a mistake.
4. Flying Pig Downtown – Best For Cheap Beer

- Price: $$
- Best for: Anyone who wants to party
- Highlights: Drinks deals, DJs and pub crawls
- Dorm (mixed): From $53
- Private Room: From $149
- Address: Nieuwendijk 100, 1012 MR, Amsterdam
These guys claim that their hostel is the place to party in Amsterdam. And we don’t doubt that! In fact, the Flying Pig is one of our overall best hostels in Amsterdam. Because of its notoriety, this place is popular. It gets booked up quickly, so you should make reservations in advance.
Here it’s all about friendly vibes and good times. As you might expect, it’s easy to get to know fellow travellers here, and enjoy a sociable time in the city. You could kick back on the comfy cushions in the smoking area, hold a pool tournament in the bar, or dance the night away to local DJs – all in one day and all in the same hostel!
Why you’ll love this hostel:
- Live music: During my stay they had some dudes with guitars just chilling and creating a cool vibe
- Cheap beer: The hostel themselves claim to have the “cheapest beer in town” here. From my experiences, they weren’t far off
- 24/7 reception: I staggered back to my dorm at 4:30am, and there was someone on site to let me in – a great touch
The Flying Pig is situated in a historic 18th-century building. You’ll probably notice this most of all in its traditional pub-style bar, where locals mingle with travellers – often to the sound of live music!
The location of this party hostel in Amsterdam is pretty great. Just a 5-minute walk from Central Station, getting around to all Amsterdam’s top attractions (and travelling further afield) is a breeze from here. But the best thing for party-lovers is being in the middle of the city’s nightlife action, with the Red Light District steps away, and the nightlife of Noord also in easy reach.
It’s like they say, Flying Pig Downtown is the place to party. It’s famous for its wild nights, and has everything you need that guarantees an awesome experience staying here. If it’s booked up, you will want to try their sister hostel, Flying Pig Uptown.
5. Durty Nelly’s Inn – Best For Irish Pub Fans

- Price: $$$
- Best for: Smaller groups
- Highlights: The in-house pub
- Dorm (mixed): From $61
- Address: Warmoesstraat 115, 1012 JA Amsterdam, Amsterdam
Even though it’s in Amsterdam, this party hostel is all about the Irish spirit. Go figure, but that’s Durty Nelly’s Inn for you. Complete with its on-site Irish pub, it’s the perfect hub for fun-loving travellers who enjoy nothing more than having a few drinks and a laugh with like-minded people.
This adults-only hostel is a fun, social spot with an array of events to match. It’s been going strong for over 20 years and features gorgeous interiors. The bar is a modern take on the traditional pub look, while the dorms are contemporary and boast pod-style beds.
Why you’ll love this hostel:
- The pub: You don’t even need to go out, they have a great pub here with everything you need for a good time
- The DJ: If the pub’s too quiet for your liking on a weekday, try coming on a weekend when the DJ gets the party started
- Bike hire: Jaded from partying? You can engage in something a little healthier and rent a bike to explore for the day
The pub itself is the heart of the hostel; it’s open till 1 a.m. on weekdays and 3 a.m. at the weekend. This is a vibrant place to meet fellow travellers or get chatting with locals. DJ sets on the weekend make this place pop at the seams.
You’ll find Durty Nelly’s Inn literally within the Red Light District, with coffee shops and bars galore on the doorstep. Ideal not only for nighttime revelry but also for daytime sightseeing. Centraal Station is just a few minutes walk away, putting top sights in easy reach. This was the best-located hostel we stayed in for sure.
If we haven’t already sold you on this one, let us tell you now that this hostel does not accept big groups like stag parties. That’s a good thing, we reckon. Add to that luxurious interiors, rain showers, and even the prospect of a huge (and affordable) cooked breakfast, and how could you say no?

Still Undecided on Your Amsterdam Party Accom?
Well there you have it. Amsterdam’s party scene is a mad one. Hostels here offer up in-house pubs/clubs, bar crawls, DJs, live music, and even a few cultural activities in the day if you need to recover from the mayhem of the Dutch capital’s nightlife.
We recommend Hans Brinker Hostel if you’re still on the fence, as it has live music, pub crawls, an in-house nightclub, and even boat tours if you want something a little different.
It was my favourite place to stay (although all of these were decent options), and offers everything a party-loving nomad could possibly want.
Enjoy your trip here, because Amsterdam is a real gem!
