When most people think of Orlando, they think of giant mouse ears, screaming rollercoasters, and the kind of heat that could melt your flip-flops – at least I do.

And if your imagination is like mine, you wouldn’t be wrong. But what no one tells you is that Orlando is also an awesome spot for broke (but brilliant) travelers like me who want to soak up the magic without selling a kidney. Which, let’s be honest, is generally preferable.

Trust me – I’ve done Orlando on a shoestring so tight it practically snapped. And the best thing about traveling to Orlando on a budget is that it doesn’t automatically mean that your experience is going to be limited – in fact, in many ways, I think it changes the travel experience for the better.

Whether you’re here for the theme parks, the nightlife, or just chasing the sun, the best hostels in Orlando serve up good vibes, decent beds, and – if you’re lucky – a pool that looks straight out of a music video (I’m talking early 2000s MTV vibes).

Stick around, and I’ll share all the secrets on the best spots to crash without crashing your bank account.

The Best Hostels in Orlando

Orlando is a wonderful place to go on holiday and is the perfect addition to any trip to the USA.

Most of us want to be able to travel to Orlando without arriving home flat broke. And luckily, if you do happen to be traveling to Orlando, there are several options that are friendly on the wallet.

However, at the time of writing, there is only ONE decent hostel to crash in Orlando, and overall, it’s pretty damn good! Let me introduce you to Bposhtels Orlando Disney…

Bposhtels Orlando Disney | Best Hostel in Orlando

Bposhtels Orlando Disney
  • Dorm (mixed): From $31
  • Address: 5245 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, Orlando, USA

Bposhtels Orlando Disney is a great option for backpackers, both in terms of vibes and the ease of things like checking in and more. This spot is refreshingly low-maintenance in the best way possible – no weird rules, no awkward formalities, just a clean bed, a killer pool, and a whole lot of relaxing in the sun.

Inside, expect bunk beds set up like private little hideouts (with curtains for maximum dramatic effect) and common spaces that make it easy to start chatting to strangers about your wild day at Disney. Everyone’s either heading to a park, coming back from a park, or mid-planning an impulsive Universal run. If you’re planning to go to Disney, this is easily one of the best places to stay in Orlando.

One of my favourite things about Bposhtels is that it’s not trying to be a five-star hotel – it’s trying to be your headquarters for reckless Orlando adventures, bad sunburns, and spontaneous 2am Taco Bell runs. And in my opinion, the mission, very much accomplished.

Why you’ll love this hostel:

  • Activities are totally optional
  • Check out isn’t super early
  • A microwave is available for spontaneous snacks

Additionally, the hostel is within walking distance to 24-hour restaurants and public transportation, and it’s very close to the vibrant Old Town area, known for its classic car shows, amusement rides, and shopping – definitely no shortage of things to do in Orlando.

Nearby attractions include Fun Spot America Theme Parks, Disney Springs, and International Drive, offering a variety of entertainment, dining, and shopping options.

The hostel offers a range of amenities to enhance guests’ stay, including free Wi-Fi, an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, and a fitness center. Guests can also enjoy a restaurant and bar on-site (easy access to drinks – score!), daily housekeeping, and a shared lounge/TV area. Additional conveniences include luggage storage, express check-in/out, and lockers.

More Epic Orlando Budget Stays

Although traditional hostels may be few and far between, there are still several accommodation options that are budget-friendly. Here are my top picks for backup stays if the hostel above doesn’t quite tickle your fancy.

Hampton Inn Orlando-Convention Center International Drive Area

Hampton Inn Orlando Convention Center
  • Private Room: From $66
  • Address: 8900 Universal Boulevard, Orlando, FL 32819, United States

Staying at the Hampton Inn Orlando-Convention Center is like going on holiday and staying at your Type-A aunt’s house – the one who always has clean towels, endless snacks, and surprisingly decent Wi-Fi. The vibe is friendly and welcoming, and all the ducks are securely in a row.

You’re smack in the middle of the madness of International Drive, but inside the hotel, it’s surprisingly mellow. The beds are comfy as ever, just begging to be slept in for as long as humanly possible (don’t tempt me with a good time).

What’s extra charming is just how easy everything feels here. Grab a coffee (or three, they’re free!), lounge by the pool, recharge, then hit the parks or the nearby bars without needing a complicated Uber spreadsheet or having to pay exorbitant surge charges.

  • Easy peasy check in
  • Actual blackout curtains (like, they really work, I promise)
  • Mini fridges in all rooms

As far as location goes, this Hampton Inn hits the nail on the head. You’re tucked right behind International Drive – Orlando’s own neon jungle, where you’re most likely to spend a lot of your time, meaning you’re close enough to stumble home after karaoke but far enough that you won’t hear every tourist meltdown.

ICON Park’s giant Ferris wheel is just five minutes away, and Universal, as in THE Universal Studios, is no more than a short drive from the hotel. If you’re in the mood for bountiful fun, you can catch a pirate-themed dinner show right around the corner. There are loads of EPIC places to visit in Orlando nearby. To be honest, it feels like pretty much everything is just “right around the corner”.

The Hampton Inn’s extras aren’t just fluff either – free breakfast (I can never say no to a DIY waffles morning), a fitness center if you’re feeling like you need to sweat off those theme park treats, and free parking, which in Orlando is basically a superpower.

Orlando Palms

Orlando Palms
  • Private Room: From $44
  • Address: 8601 South Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando, FL 32809, United States

Step into Orlando Palms, where the atmosphere is as warm as the Florida sun. The hotel’s playful spirit is evident in its vibrant decor and friendly staff, making you feel right at home.

Whether you’re lounging by the outdoor pool or enjoying a workout in the fitness center, there’s a sense of laid-back luxury that invites relaxation. The shared lounge is a social hub, perfect for meeting fellow travelers or planning your next day trip from Orlando.

Rooms are designed with comfort in mind, featuring plush bedding, blackout curtains, and thoughtful touches like a pillow menu (uh, bougie) to customize your sleep experience. It’s the kind of place where you can kick off your shoes, sink into a soft bed, and feel all your stress melt away.

Located right in the midst of Orlando’s bustling attractions, Orlando Palms is just a kilometre and a half away from the Florida Mall, just in case you want to live out your Sex and the City or enjoy some banging dining options. For thrill-seekers, SeaWorld Orlando and Universal Studios’ Islands of Adventure are within a 10-kilometre radius, ensuring your days are filled with excitement.

Back at the hotel, you have access to plenty of amenities. Take a refreshing dip in the outdoor pool, keep fit while you travel in the well-equipped gym, or unwind in the shared lounge area. Rooms are thoughtfully equipped with air conditioning (an absolute must for Florida, especially in the summer), flat-screen TVS, and private bathrooms stocked with complimentary toiletries. Free parking and Wi-Fi add to the convenience, making your stay as seamless as possible.

Travel with peace of mind. Travel WITH a security belt.

Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs Resort Area

Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs Resort Area
  • Private Room: From $84
  • Address: 1850 B Hotel Plaza Boulevard, Lake Buena Vista, Orlando, FL

Step into Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista, where you’ll immediately be blown away by the warm atmosphere. The hotel’s playful spirit is evident in its vibrant decor and friendly staff, making you feel right at home in a kind of Disney paradise.

Whether you’re lounging by the outdoor pool or enjoying a workout in the fitness center, there’s a sense of laid-back luxury that just begs visitors to relax and take it easy – don’t have to ask me twice! The shared lounge is the perfect place to socialise and meet fellow travelers, if that’s what you’re into.

If you’re looking for the best spot in Orlando to really enjoy a Disney-themed holiday, I’ll confidently say that Wyndham Garden Lake Buena Vista is the place to go, especially if you want to keep costs low. Perched right in the Disney Springs Resort Area, this hotel is the ultimate launchpad for your theme park escapades, shopping trips, and late-night taco hunts.

Disney Springs is so close, you could probably smell the churros from your room if you leave the window open. EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, and Animal Kingdom are also just a breezy shuttle ride away, and the best part? They’ll even chauffeur you there – well, it’s more like a shuttle, but who am I to be picky?!

On-site, it’s all about living your best Florida life: a bubbling splash zone for kids (or grown-ups who refuse to grow up), two dazzling pools, a poolside bar with plenty of fruity cocktails, and a 24-hour gym for anyone pretending they’ll work out on holiday.

If you’re hungry, you can choose from hearty breakfasts, casual bites, or late-night munchies without ever leaving the hotel. Plus, Wi-Fi that actually works, family-friendly suites, and business amenities in case you “accidentally” need to send one tiny email from the pool lounger.

Kompose Boutique Resort

Kompose Boutique Resort
  • Private Room: From $64
  • Address: 7491 West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, Celebration, Orlando, FL

Kompose Boutique Resort Theme Parks isn’t just somewhere to crash between park-hopping marathons – it’s a stylish little sanctuary that’ll feel like home while you’re visiting Orlando. With its modern, playful design and laid-back atmosphere, this hotel knows exactly how to balance adventure with chill.

Every inch of Kompose Orlando feels fresh, bold, and a little bit sassy – in the best way possible. From vibrant decor to quirky touches throughout the property, it’s the kind of place where you can kick off your trainers, grab a drink, and feel instantly cooler (even if you spent the day screaming on rollercoasters, but who says that’s not cool?).

Whether you’re traveling solo in the US, as a couple, or with a whole theme park squad, Kompose has a magnetic energy that makes you feel like part of the club.

In terms of location, it doesn’t get any better than this – you’re tucked away just enough to avoid the chaos, but close enough to zip over to Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, and all the big hitters without breaking a sweat (or a flip-flop, apologies for the terrible joke – shoutout to Flipper). Plus, the shopping mecca of Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets is just around the corner – get ready to bag some absolute bargains.

Inside the hotel, you’ll find everything you need to keep the holiday feeling strong. There’s a gorgeous outdoor pool (complete with loungers for maximum sunbathing success), a vibey bar where you can toast to your day’s adventures, and sleek communal spaces perfect for plotting tomorrow’s outings.

Rooms are packed with modern comforts – super comfy beds, crisp air-con (essential for that Florida heat/sweat fest), and stylish decor that’ll give you inspo for your next refurb.

Nice room near UCF
  • Private Room: From $53

The room is bright, clean, and practical – pretty much exactly what you need after a day of rollercoasters, shopping sprees, or wild uni tours.

And the location couldn’t be better. Right near the University of Central Florida, so you’re just minutes away from all the cafes, bookstores, bars, and that electric campus buzz. Plus, you’re a short drive from Downtown Orlando and theme parks, so if you’re feeling like you’re in the mood for some high-adrenaline fun, you’re in the right place.

Getting Insured BEFORE Visiting Orlando
