Denmark

Denmark may be small, but it knows how to have a bloody good time. Copenhagen is all bikes, colourful streets, late nights and seriously good food, while beyond the capital you'll find wild coastlines, sandy beaches and enough countryside to escape the crowds. Add in Viking history, ridiculously good pastries and a culture built around enjoying the good stuff in life, and you've got a pretty damn fun country to explore.

    Denmark Travel FAQs

Can you visit Denmark on a budget?

Yes, but you'll need to be a little savvy. Staying in hostels, shopping at supermarkets, using public transport and taking advantage of Denmark's free outdoor spaces can keep costs down. Copenhagen will generally put more pressure on your wallet than smaller towns and rural areas.

Is Denmark good for outdoor adventures?

Definitely, although don't expect Himalayan levels of adventure. Denmark is brilliant for cycling, coastal walks, kayaking, camping and exploring its forests, beaches and islands. The relatively flat landscape makes it particularly accessible for cyclists.

Is Copenhagen really as bike-friendly as people say?

Yep. Cycling is a huge part of everyday life in Copenhagen, with dedicated cycle lanes and an infrastructure designed around bikes. You don't need to be a hardcore cyclist either, hiring a bike is an easy way to explore the city like a local.

What is a Danish hot dog?

The humble Danish hot dog is a bit of a national institution. Grab one from a pølsevogn, or street hot dog stand, and you'll usually get a sausage tucked into a bun with mustard, ketchup, remoulade, crispy onions and pickled cucumber. Cheap, messy and very much worth trying after a few beers in Copenhagen.
