Thanks to a decades-long ban on tourists, Havana is a city shrouded in mystery and is one of the Caribbean’s best-kept travel secrets.

It’s one of those places that you visit that sticks with you forever (in a good way). Brimming with history, the African, Spanish and Caribbean influences can be sensed throughout the city.

The city is vibrant and filled with colour. The traditional Spanish architecture, warm climate and world-renowned rum are just a few of the reasons I loved Havana. You’ll also find Havana is home to many classic American cars, which is weird, wonderful and totally unexpected!

Whether you’re heading to Havana for its culture, food, history, music or just to marvel at the sights – you’ll need to decide where to stay in Havana.

Cuba’s capital city is massive and sprawling, and choosing the best neighborhood to stay in Havana is super important. To help you make this all-important decision, I’ve created this ultimate guide on the best areas in Havana.

I’ve not only compiled the best areas (and categorised them by interest) but I’ve also included the best places to stay and things to do in each. After this guide, YOU will be the expert on Havana and fully equipped to book your trip.

So, let’s jump in and find where in Havana is best for you.
