When I stayed here, I enjoyed waking up to the serenade of birdsong and the sound of monkeys leaping through the canopy. I also loved being able to roll out of bed and the serenity of strolling to the entrance gates in the morning, well before the crowds arrived. Honestly, it was a highlight of my Sri Lanka trip!
If you are wondering where to stay in Sigirya, I would recommend the town area, particularly if you are short on time. It places you very near the rock and has most of the amenities and facilities you could want.

The views in this spot are incredible, and I personally found the vibe here a little more offbeat and peaceful than in Sigirya. There are also fewer crowds, which is ideal for those who want a quieter stay.
Further out, you’ve got options like Dambulla, Habarana, and Kandalama. The first of which might be a decent option if you want to go there to watch a test match or ODI cricket.
Wherever you choose to stay, make sure you experience Sigiriya properly. This means watching the sun rise over the jungle, hearing frogs at night, and being surrounded by raw Sri Lankan nature.

My biggest tip for Sri Lanka would be to stay in this area if you want to climb Sigiriya or Pidurangala for sunrise. It’s the perfect base for early risers who want a golden-hour climb up, plus you’ll be close to the action if you stay here. Yet will still feel completely off the grid in a quiet, raw, and beautifully Sri Lankan way.
