Looking to save some money? You’ll struggle in the Catskills – but it’s not impossible! New Paltz is a college town, so you can find plenty of budget-friendly dining and entertainment options around the university. It also has a hip atmosphere, so creatives will feel right at home.

Speaking about creatives – no trip to the Catskills is complete without a trip to Woodstock! This legendary town was once home to the most famous music festival in the world. Even to this day, it maintains an alternative and artsy vibe, making it easily the coolest destination in the Catskills.

However, it’s not just great as a budget-friendly town! New Paltz is surrounded by beautiful forests that are fantastic for hikers. The local student population also cultivates a vibrant creative scene – with quirky bars, boutique stores, and hidden galleries just waiting to be discovered.
