Bali FAQs
How much does a trip to bali cost?
Bali can be more expensive than other parts of Indonesia, but it's still possible to travel on a budget. Around $35–50 a day is enough for most backpackers, covering accommodation, local food, transport and a few activities. Spend wisely and your money will go a long way, but it's also very easy to splash out if you're not careful.
Is Bali Safe?
Yes, Bali is pretty safe to visit for all sorts of travellers. The island is so well-trodden and inhabited by such friendly and helpful people, that it’s one of the safest places in Southeast Asia to travel around.
Of course, there’s always going to be something to watch out for, and that goes for certain areas of Bali more than others. Kuta, Seminyak and Canggu are more sketchy after dark than Ubud, or Jimbaran, for example. That’s just how it is.
Is Bali just for digital nomads?
Not at all. While Bali has become a hotspot for remote workers, it's just as popular with backpackers, couples, families and surfers looking to experience the island's culture, scenery and beaches.
What is the best time to visit Bali?
Bali only has two distinct seasons: the rainy season and the dry/windy season.
Dry season (April to November) is the obvious choice for most travellers. The weather is sunnier, the roads are drier, and the surf on the west coast is at its most consistent, particularly May to September
Wet season (December to March) gets a worse reputation than it deserves, but it does require realistic expectations. Rain in Bali rarely means all-day grey drizzle; but I’ve done a few seasons where this has been an unfortunate reality. More often than not, the doom and gloom only happen in the evening, leaving mornings for exploring.
