With stunning mountain scenery and abundant wildlife, Grand Teton National Park is so much more than just a gateway to Yellowstone. While it’s true that it is an excellent budget-friendly base for exploring the many areas of natural beauty in this part of Wyoming, you don’t need to leave the park to have a great time. Grand Teton National Park 4 Best Places to Stay in
Grand Teton National Park is quite small compared to its neighbour – Yellowstone National Park – but has a huge variety of attractions and things to do! Below we’ve listed our four favourite places in and around the national park. We’ve also included our top accommodation picks and things to do in each.
First USA backpacking trip and you’re an outdoor enthusiast? Jackson is definitely the best-connected neighbourhood in the region! It’s technically outside Grand Teton National Park, but the entrance is only a few minutes away by car. This is the heart of the tourism industry in the region, so if you don’t have a car, this is your best chance to visit both Grand Teton and Yellowstone.
If you’re visiting in the summer, you will be charmed by the verdant scenery surrounding the town. This is where you can book adventure activities like guided hikes (you can find some of the best hikes in the USA there), wildlife experiences, and horse riding. In the winter, Jackson is the second-largest ski resort in the wider Jackson Hole area and a popular base for visitors.
Ultra Modern Airbnb Luxe Home in Jackson: Pearl at Jackson
Don’t know about Airbnb Luxe yet? If you’re willing to splurge, it’s definitely one of the most decadent accommodation options available. With these properties, you will be able to enjoy some additional services – including housekeeping, groceries and a chef at Pearl at Jackson! This stylish two-bedroom property will definitely cost you, but we think it is worth every cent.
Luxury Condo in Jackson: Mountainside Getaway
Need to kick back and relax? This condo takes all the hassle out of National Park accommodation to give you a laid-back, soothing space to unwind in after a long day of exploring the mountains. Everything you need is included, such as an on-site restaurant, snow sports hire, and an outdoor pool in the summer. There’s even a free airport shuttle!
Elegant Resort in Jackson: Rustic Inn Creekside
This four-star hotel is the perfect retreat for those that want everything taken care of without going ridiculously over budget! The south entrance of Grand Teton National Park is only a short drive from the hotel, and they also offer ski hire and bicycles. Rooms are decorated in a stunning fusion of modern design and traditional log interiors.
Things to See and Do in Jackson:
- Hiking is a hugely popular activity in the area since the hills here are a bit easier to navigate – we recommend Cache Creek.
- Snow King Resort is the main skiing destination in Jackson – it’s quite small, so a great option for families with younger kids.
- Check out the scenery on four legs by taking a trip with Horse Creek Ranch – they also have regular hire for more experienced riders.
- Need to recover after a few days of hiking/skiing? Profile Massage at ENSO Spa is a no-nonsense massage therapist.
Teton Village is home to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort – the most popular skiing destination in the National Park! With slopes for all abilities and regular lessons and taster sessions, Teton Village should be on your radar if you’re considering a winter staycation this year. What’s more, a lot of the accommodation in the area is super affordable.
Visiting in the summer? No worries – Teton Village takes advantage of the dramatic mountain scenery year-round! The ski lifts are converted so they can carry mountain bikes, with some of the most epic trails in the world running down the dormant ski slopes.

Airbnb Plus is the website’s upgraded range where you can enjoy properties that are hand-selected for their great interior design and superb hospitality. It’s a little bit more affordable than Airbnb Luxe but still gives you that decadent vibe. There is a cosy fireplace in the living room, as well as a huge barbecue area outside. Sleeping up to six guests across two bedrooms, it’s great for families.

Right in the heart of the national park, Colter Bay is where you get to wake up to laid back vibes and stunning scenery every morning! Colter Bay Village is a large resort next to the lake, but there are plenty of great accommodation options within a couple of minutes drive of the area.
For families, Colter Bay is one of the most peaceful neighbourhoods in the area. Jackson and Teton Village can get very busy during the peak season, but visitor numbers in the park itself are limited, so you can enjoy the chill vibes year-round.
