Indonesia
With over 17,000 islands to explore, Indonesia is so much more than just Bali. Ask anyone who’s seen Mount Rinjani at sunrise, spotted orangutans in Borneo, or gone off the beaten path in Flores. The Island of Gods is just the beginning.

Indonesia Travel FAQs
How long do you need to backpack Indonesia?
Indonesia is huge, so the more time you have, the better. 3 to 4 weeks is enough to explore a few islands, while a month or more gives you the chance to venture beyond Bali and discover places like Java, Flores or Sumatra.
Is Indonesia expensive to visit?
Although Bali has a reputation for being expensive, Indonesia as a whole offers excellent value for money. Venture beyond the main tourist hotspots and you'll find affordable accommodation, delicious local food and low-cost transport, making it an ideal destination for backpackers.
Is Indonesia good for solo travel?
Definitely. Indonesia is easy to explore independently, with a well-trodden backpacking route and plenty of opportunities to meet other travellers. Whether you're learning to surf, hiking volcanoes or island hopping, it's a great place to travel solo.
Should I visit more than just Bali?
If you can, absolutely. Bali is an amazing introduction to Indonesia, but it's only one of thousands of islands. From Komodo dragons and volcanic landscapes to jungle treks and world-class diving, there's a lot more waiting to be discovered.
