There’s no escaping how expensive Clearwater Beach is – but for those on an extreme budget, Downtown Clearwater has some more affordable accommodation options and is only a short journey away from the island!

    FOR FAMILIES

    FOR FAMILIES

    North

North Clearwater Beach still benefits from the gorgeous white beaches and crystal clear waters of the South, but has far fewer tourism numbers!

Clearwater Beach is most famous for its white sandy beaches and pristine swimming water – and this will easily be the attraction you visit most whilst in the area – but it also provides an interesting insight into American culture! There are some easy going nightlife venues along the strip, as well as a good selection of restaurants and retail offerings.

Most visitors to Clearwater Beach will stay in the southern half of the island. This is easily the busiest part, and where you will find most of the tourist attractions! It is also quite mixed in terms of clientele – with upmarket hotels and budget motels within walking distance of each other. If this is your first time in the area, sticking to South Clearwater Beach is your best chance of getting to experience everything the area has to offer.

If you want some peace and quiet we suggest heading to the North! This area doesn’t have as many hotels, but the ones that are on offer are calmer and in many cases also more affordable. The beaches in North Clearwater Beach have nowhere near the same tourist numbers as the South, giving you a more laid-back experience. There are also some great nature-based activities in this area, with a wide array of tour companies willing to show you around the region.

Finally, whilst budget travellers might struggle on Clearwater Beach itself, Clearwater city centre is an excellent option for saving some cash – especially the Downtown area! There are plenty of connections to Clearwater Beach from Downtown, including a cycle path for the more active visitors. The area also has some great attractions in its own right, including independent coffee shops, bars and restaurants.

Still not sure? No worries – we have some more extensive guides below to help you make up your mind!

Sweeping from Clearwater Point up to Coral Resort – and for the purpose of this guide including Sea Island – South Clearwater Beach is the area with direct access to the mainland – ideal if you need to take a few trips further afield! There are also some great attractions dotted around the area for those that like to keep active whilst travelling.

Best Airbnb in South: Beach Getaway

Despite being within walking distance of the main tourist area, this Airbnb is surprisingly peaceful and has a secluded atmosphere! Sleeping up to four guests across two bedrooms, it is ideal for small groups and families staying on the island. The host also has superhost status – meaning its one of the top rated Airbnbs in Florida.

Best Hotel in South: Opal Sands

#3 North – Best Neighborhood in Clearwater Beach for Families

North Clearwater Beach still benefits from the gorgeous white beaches and crystal clear waters of the South, but has far fewer tourism numbers! This peaceful neighborhood is perfect for families – especially those visiting during the peak season.

    North, Clearwater Beach

As one of the more residential neighborhoods in Clearwater Beach, the North beach also gives you a rare insight into how locals in the area live! Many of the restaurants and bars are locally owned, offering some of the most underrated food on the entire island.
