    India Travel FAQs

How long do you need to backpack India?

India is huge, so you could easily spend months travelling around and still only scratch the surface. Two to three weeks is enough for a focused trip through one region, while a month gives you more time to combine places like Delhi, Rajasthan, Agra and Varanasi without constantly being on the move.

Is India good for solo travel?

Yes, although India can be intense, especially if it's your first time travelling in South Asia. There's a well-established backpacker scene, plenty of hostels and loads of opportunities to meet other travellers. The key is to plan your routes carefully and give yourself time to adjust to the pace of travel.

What's the best way to travel around India?

For most backpackers, trains are the way to go. India's railway network connects much of the country and is an experience in itself, while buses and domestic flights are useful for places that are harder to reach by rail. Book trains through official channels where possible and keep an eye on your belongings at busy stations.

Do you need a visa to visit India?

Most international travellers need a visa to visit India, although the exact requirements depend on your nationality. Eligible travellers can apply for an e-Visa online, while some nationalities need to apply through an Indian embassy or consulate. Always check the latest requirements before booking your trip.
