Spain Travel FAQs
How long do you need to backpack Spain?
Two to three weeks is enough to see some of Spain's highlights, but a month gives you time to explore at a more relaxed pace. You could combine cities like Barcelona, Madrid and Seville with beaches, mountain towns or some of Spain's lesser-known regions.
Is Spain expensive to backpack?
Spain is generally one of the more affordable countries in Western Europe, although prices vary between destinations. Hostels, tapas bars, supermarkets and public transport can keep costs manageable, while popular coastal resorts and major cities tend to be more expensive.
What's the best way to travel around Spain?
Trains are one of the easiest ways to get between Spain's major cities, with high-speed services connecting many popular destinations. Buses are useful for smaller towns and can be cheaper, while renting a car gives you more freedom if you're heading into rural areas.
What time do people eat dinner in Spain?
Later than you might be used to! Dinner often starts around 9pm or even later, particularly in summer, and many restaurants don't get busy until around 9:30pm. Don't worry about eating early though, you'll usually find plenty of places serving food throughout the evening.
